Angela Hall qualified in 1999, working in acute medicine before specialising in Cardiology in London. She returned to Jersey in 2006 and worked in ICU for eight years. An interest in Cardiology remained and Angela set up the Arrhythmia Nurse Specialist role, developing and implementing many nurse lead initiatives including cardioversion, interventional Cardiology relocation, drug provocation studies, arrhythmia and transient loss of consciousness clinics, Cardiology pre-assessment and a follow up service for patients undergoing electrophysiology and ablation procedures off island.
Waiting lists have been reduced significantly, services streamlined and dedicated management and support for patients provided. Angela is keen to continue to enhance services and was instrumental in introducing Vernakalant a novel antiarrhythmic drug to Jersey, the first place to use this across the British Isles.
Angela has an interest in academia, completing many pre and post graduate courses including non-medical prescribing, Masters in Advanced Practice and a PhD in Health Research. The doctoral studies explored the relationship between diabetes and atrial fibrillation and screening around this targeted group. Angela has been a nurse representative on the British Heart Rhythm Society council and currently the Education Committee, is on the Scientific Committee for Heart Rhythm Congress and the British Association of Nurses in Cardiovascular Care research forum.
Angela was fortunate to be recognised for her work in arrhythmia management, winning awards for Innovations and AF Pioneers, a British Heart Foundation award, and winner of the Innovations in your Specialty and overall Nurse of the Year by the RCNi in 2018.
