Andrew Grace

Position: Professor of Experimental Cardiology
Location: Cambridge, UK

Andrew Grace is a cardiologist with >35 years clinical experience whose academic program is based on the precept that the heart is the exemplar human system in which to examine how individual organ function is genetically determined. High-resolution charge density mapping of cardiac activation is being linked to genomic structure and gene expression examined in single cells acquired through novel in vivo freeze-sampling; there is high anticipation of therapeutic target identification and rescue. The current focus is new and centred in the Department of Biochemistry also involving the Cavendish Laboratory, Wellcome Sanger Institute and Department of Engineering. Modeling intercellular cardiac communication presents a tractable ‘grand challenge’ in single cell data science in which state-of-art analytics are critical.
