Christiane Jungen

Position: Consultant Electrophysiologist
Location: Essen, DE

After completing my thesis in computational neuroscience at the Max-Planck-Institute in Frankfurt am Main, Germany I worked as a resident at the University Clinic Düsseldorf and Hamburg, Germany. My clinical electrophysiological training was supervised by Prof. Stephan Willems (University Clinic Hamburg, Germany) and Prof. Katja Zeppenfeld (University Clinic Leiden, The Netherlands). I have a strong interest in basic and translational research focusing on the relevance of the autonomic nervous system for arrhythmogenesis. Starting my research in the lab of Prof. Christian Meyer in Hamburg, Germany, I was able to conduct research stays at the lab of Prof. Shivkumar (UCLA, Los Angeles, USA – funded by the German Center for German Centre for Cardiovascular Research) and of Prof. Katja Zeppenfeld (Leiden University Medical Center, Leiden, The Netherlands – funded by the German Research Foundation). I started a position as consultant electrophysiologist at the University Clinic Essen in 2023 and am grateful to be able to combine clinical electrophysiology with basic and translational research further on.
