As part of the AF Programme at the AHSN NENC, Nikki leads on the AliveCor Opportunistic Pulse Checking project which is the ‘detection’ part of the AF Pathway. Finding patients with unknown AF is the starting point in reducing the number of AF related strokes and the project includes working with Health Care Professionals in both primary and secondary care, Allied Health Care Professionals, Fire & Rescue Service and Public Health England, whilst also feeding into the national AF Programme.

Previously, having qualified and worked in Hospitality Management, Nikki trained and practised as a clinician in secondary care for CDDFT, Northumbria and Gateshead Trusts and for a few years in a community setting. This led to the opportunity to establish, develop and deliver a national Health Professional Education Programme.
