Mauro Lencioni is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist specialising in the management of cardiac arrhythmias, with particular expertise in catheter ablation. He completed his medical training in Johannesburg before moving to the United Kingdom, where he undertook specialist cardiology training including a dedicated research fellowship in electrophysiology. He subsequently completed a clinical fellowship in Denmark, gaining further experience in complex ablation techniques, before being appointed as a Consultant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Dr Lencioni is involved in all aspects of heart rhythm management, providing comprehensive care for patients with atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular arrhythmias, and conduction system disease. His clinical and academic interests include the management of persistent atrial fibrillation, with a particular focus on hybrid and multidisciplinary approaches aimed at improving long term rhythm outcomes. He continues to play a key role in advancing arrhythmia services regionally, contributing to service development, research initiatives, and the training of electrophysiology trainees and allied professionals.
