Position: Professor of Cardiology
Location: London, UK
Professor Zachary Whinnett is a Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Professor of Cardiology at Imperial College London. He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders, with particular expertise in cardiac pacing, implantable cardiac devices, and catheter ablation.
Professor Whinnett is internationally recognised for his work in cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) and conduction system pacing, including His-bundle and left bundle branch pacing. His research focuses on improving outcomes for patients with heart failure and arrhythmias through optimisation of device therapy and a better understanding of cardiac electrophysiology. He leads a number of research programmes at Imperial and has published extensively in leading cardiology journals.
Clinically, he manages a broad range of arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, atrial tachycardia, and ventricular arrhythmias, and performs complex device implantation and ablation procedures. He is also actively involved in teaching and training, contributing to the development of the next generation of cardiologists and electrophysiologists.
