Andreas Metzner is section head of interventional electrophysiology at the University Heart and Vascular Center in Hamburg. He trained and practiced as a cardiologist and electrophysiologist at the Asklepios Clinic St. George from 2005 to 2018 and continued his career as head of department of Cardiology at the Asklepios Clinic Harburg until 2019. Prof. Metzner researches single-shot ablation systems for pulmonary vein isolation as well as novel, innovative mapping systems for arrhythmias. He closely works with a network of collaborators and friends around the world. Prof. Metzner is a member of the German Society of Cardiology (DGK) and was president at the congress in 2022. 2017 he was the winner of the science award of the Gertrud-Spitz-Foundation for his outstanding achievements in electrophysiology.
