Gavin Perkins is Professor of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Warwick and Director of Warwick Clinical Trials Unit. Clinically he holds appointments as a Consultant Physician in Critical Care Medicine at University Hospitals Birmingham and MERIT Team Consultant with West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Prof Perkins’ leads the National Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest Outcomes collaboration which is funded by the BHF and Resuscitation Council (UK). The registry uses information from patients to help the NHS and charities in their attempts to improve survival from cardiac arrest (http://warwick.ac.uk/ohcao).

He leads an active portfolio of clinical trials including the PARAMEDIC trials (PARAMEDIC-1, mechanical CPR, PARAMEDIC-2, adrenaline for cardiac arrest), CPR Feedback and Debriefing.

Prof Perkins is Director of Science and Research for the European Resuscitation Council (ERC). He chairs the Resuscitation Council (UK) Community and Ambulance Resuscitation Committee and ERC BLS/AED Committee. In 2016 he was appointed as co-chair of the International Liaison Committee for Resuscitation having served as co-chair for BLS/AED Task Force between 2010-16.
