Prof Blomström-Lundqvist is Senior consultant and Professor of Cardiology at the Department Cardiology in Örebro and Medical Science, Örebro and Uppsala University, Sweden. She is the research leader for the arrhythmia section at Uppsala University Hospital, mainly focusing on research related to atrial fibrillation (AF) and cardiogenetic syndromes.

Prof Blomström-Lundqvist has served as scientific secretary for the Swedish Society of Medicine, chair of the Heart Rhythm Group of the Swedish Society of Cardiology and has had several leadership positions in European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), involved in EHRA/ESC guidelines and expert Committees including the the ESC Congress Program Committee and ESC Education committee.
