Position: Consultant in Medical Genetics
Location: London, UK

Dr Tessa Homfray has been a Consultant in Medical Genetics for over 20 years, she has always had a very clinical focus to her practice. She became interested in the Genetics of Cardiomyopathies and arrhythmias in the early 1990’s prior to the introduction of Genetic Testing. This remained a small part of her CV until the introduction of the new Genetic technologies that over the last 5 years has made Genetics an integral part of the diagnostic pathway in these diseases. 

She has always believed in joint clinics to share expertise between specialities and having introduced these modals at St George’s University Hospital London in both Fetal Medicine and Cardiology she was asked to set up a similar service in both Kings College Hospital in Fetal Medicine and the Royal Brompton Hospital in Cardiology. 

She teaches, lectures, writes and publishes widely on both Cardiac and Fetal Genetics.  She is and will always remain a medical doctor whose personal interests in her patients drives her interest in these very exciting times in Genetics
