Philip Moore

Position: Consultant Cardiologist
Location: Manchester UK

Professional profile

I have extensive experience in all aspects of general cardiology and teach nationally and internationally especially in the fields of pacing and ECG (electrocardiography). I also see patients with chest pain, shortness of breath and other cardiac symptoms and perform non-invasive investigations such as echocardiography (ultrasound of heart), ECG, and invasive investigations such as coronary angiography.

I am a consultant cardiologist at West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust and Bart's Heart Centre and am a specialist in implantable cardiac devices (pacemakers, implantable defibrillators and biventricular pacing).

I specialise in heart rhythm disorders and see patients with a wide range of symptoms including palpitations, dizzy spells and blackouts. I implant pacemakers and defibrillators and supervise long term follow-up and programming. I undertake complex device procedures and extractions at Bart's Heart Centre.

In addition to my clinical work, I am heavily involved in the training of cardiology junior doctors and teach regularly on the specialist registrar training days. I am the course organiser for ECG training courses for doctors, nurses and paramedics and teach extensively on pacemaker training courses nationally and internationally. I sit on both the British Heart Rhythm Society and European Heart Rhythm Association Certification committees which oversee training standards and set accreditation exams.
