Wendy’s nursing career has been varied encompassing haematology, diabetes and vascular surgery. However, for the last 30 years she has focussed on cardiac care working in primary, secondary and tertiary care. She has been fortunate to work with highly motivated teams and has pioneered various service developments. She was involved in the development of the Welsh NSF for CHD & acted as clinical expert on NICE heart failure and ICD/CRT guidelines. In 2016, she was awards the Queens British Empire Medal. Education and training has always been a strong theme throughout her career, initially lecturing in women’s health and health promotion then lead lecturer for CHD, heart failure and non-malignant palliative care. She regularly speaks at national conferences and has published numerous articles on these specialties
Most of her home time is focused on being dragged around the park by her dog, battling with the slugs to stop them invading her garden. She is also trying to convince herself she can cook like Nigella Lawson!
