Dr Zachary Whinnett is a consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist who works at the Hammersmith Hospital in London. He specialises in device implantation, lead extraction and catheter ablation of cardiac arrhythmias. He is Senior Clinical lecturer at Imperial College London and director of the Peart Rose Research Unit at Hammersmith hospital. He leads a research program in implantable cardiac devices. This work includes the development of methods for high precision hemodynamic assessment of pacemaker settings and new pacing techniques. He was a lead investigator for the UK multicentre BRAVO study. He has published widely in the field of cardiac resynchronisation therapy and His bundle pacing. He is the chief investigator for the HOPE-HF trial, which is the largest randomised trial of His bundle pacing. He is a member of the organising committees for the UK and European His pacing symposia and a faculty member for the Heart Rhythm Society, European Heart Rhythm Society and British cardiac society congresses.
