Bill is Professor of Translational Genomic Medicine at the University of Manchester and Consultant geneticist at the Manchester Centre for Genomic Medicine. He is the Clinical Director of the NW Genomic Medicine Service Alliance. He trained in Manchester and Toronto in cardiac genetics. He runs a cardiac genetics clinic in Manchester for patients and families with inherited cardiac disorders. He co-leads the European Society of Human Genetics Cardiac Genetics Course with Bart Loeys and Johan Saenen (Antwerp).
