Mrs Catherine Laventure

Catherine Laventure

Position: Arrhythmia Nurse Specialist
Location: Peterborough, UK

I am an Arrhythmia Nurse Specialist at Peterborough City Hospital within North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. Having qualified in 1992, my career has included roles within acute and interventional cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, critical care and cardiac rehabilitation. With a passion for acute cardiac nursing, I worked as an Acute Coronary Syndrome Sister prior to setting up the role of Arrhythmia Nurse Specialist at Peterborough City Hospital in 2011.

My role involves developing and delivering acute inpatient arrhythmia care, and delivering outpatient services which include a Nurse Lead AF clinic, DC Cardioversion service, and ILR implant service. Patients are provided with information and advice on their diagnosis and management options and we also provide a patient telephone helpline for arrhythmia/ device related issues. We work closely with our tertiary EP centres to facilitate timely and appropriate management.

Since specialising in arrhythmia management, I have completed BHRS accreditation, hold a PG Cert in Arrhythmia management, am a non medical prescriber, ILR implanter, ALS instructor and am completing my MSC in Advanced Clinical Practice.

I am a nurse representative on BHRS council, am on the BHRS exam writing committee, and routinely deliver educational sessions to medical students and GP trainees within the region, whilst providing advice, guidance and education to medical and nursing staff within the trust.
