Dr. Narayan is Professor of Medicine and Co-Director of the Arrhythmia Center at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. Dr. Narayan works at the intersection of cardiology, bioengineering and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve patient care. He pioneered the development of computerized mapping of atrial fibrillation to personalize ablation, now a vibrant field, and the use of computer models and machine learning to assess cell-to-bedside mechanisms to assess risk for sudden death in individuals. Dr. Narayan’s Computational Arrhythmia Research Laboratory has been funded continuously since 2001 by the U.S. National Institutes of Health. Dr. Narayan has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles, reviews and book chapters. He trained in medicine and software engineering in Birmingham UK, UCLA, Harvard/Mount Auburn Hospital and Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Narayan has received the Distinguished Scientist award of the Heart Rhythm Society. His trainees have won research prizes and grants each year since 2003, and over 80% remain in academia. He has been recognized “Top Doctor” by Castle Connolly. He is a devoted family man and he and his wife and 3 children enjoy biking, skiing, swimming, history, music and travel.
