Mrs Angela Hall

Angela Hall

Position: Arrhythmia Nurse Specialist
Location: Jersey, UK

Angela Hall qualified in 1999, worked on acute medical ward for eighteen months then specialised in Cardiology in London. She returned to Jersey in 2006 and worked in HDU/ICU for eight years. An interest in Cardiology remained and Angela set up the Arrhythmia Nurse Specialist role, developing and implementing many nurse lead initiatives including cardioversion, interventional Cardiology relocation, drug provocation studies, arrhythmia and transient loss of consciousness clinics, pre-assessment for all Cardiology procedures and a direct follow up service for patients undergoing electrophysiology and ablation procedures off island. Waiting lists have been reduced significantly, services streamlined and dedicated management and support for arrhythmia patients provided. Angela is keen to continue to enhance services and was instrumental in introducing Vernakalant –a novel antiarrhythmic drug – to Jersey, the first place to be using this across the British Isles.

Angela has an interest in the academic side of nursing also, completing many pre and post graduate courses including non-medical prescriber and a Masters in Advanced Practice. She is now in her final year of a PhD in Health Research, exploring the relationship between diabetes and atrial fibrillation and screening around this targeted group. Angela is also a nurse representative on the British Heart Rhythm Society council.

Angela was fortunate to be recognised for her work in arrhythmia management, winning awards for Innovations and AF Pioneers, a British Heart Foundation award for work around these services and winner of the Innovations in your Specialty and the overall Nurse of the Year by the RCNi
