Position: Consultant Cardiologist & Lead Electrophysiologist
Location: Wolverhampton, UK

Dr Sanjiv Petkar is a Consultant Cardiologist & Lead Electrophysiologist at the New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton UK. He was a Guideline Development Group Member of the National Institute of Clinical Excellence which first published the Clinical Guidance 109 Transient Loss of Consciousness (‘blackouts’) in over 16s in August 2010 (updated September 2014). He is passionate about Cardiac Rhythm Management, having set-up the Rapid Access Blackouts Triage Clinic in Manchester in 2007 and the TLOC pathway and service locally. He has also set-up and leads the electrophysiology and ablation service at the New Cross Hospital. He undertakes all types of ablations including those for atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, SVT, normal and abnormal heart VT. He also has a keen interest in implanting simple and complex cardiac devices and undertaking research studies. He has more than 35 scientific publications in peer reviewed journals.
