Position: Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiovascular R&D Director
Location: London, UK

Ameet Bakhai is a Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiovascular R&D Director at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK. After initial training at St Bartholomew's and Royal Brompton Hospitals, London, he was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Clinical Research Institute and the School of Public Health, Boston, USA, before obtaining fellowships of the Royal College of Physicians and the European Society of Cardiology. He has enabled innovation of drugs, devices and diagnostics in multiple cardiac areas of heart failure, atrial fibrillation, acute coronary syndromes and risk factor reduction through his internationally recognised skills in clinical trials, registries, health-economic models and guidelines for cardiovascular pharmacotherapies, coronary stents, digital technologies and disease prevention.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Bakhai is a national Principal Investigator of international registries (EUPS-AF, APTOR, ETNA-AF) and an advisor to several commercial and government healthcare partners for therapy development programmes, commissioning and health-economic modelling. He has published over 100 papers in international peer-reviewed journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Medical Economics and the European Heart Journal and co-authored a key textbook on understanding clinical trials.  Receiving this year a national award for his decade of work in clinical cardiovascular research from the Royal College of Physicians, more recently he has started collaborating with digital technology companies and with pharma on artificial intelligence projects on prediction and precision medicine and he has additionally become known for his engaging and inspiring presentation style.
